You should expect to see perhaps the best Tango dancing in the World!  The Tango Club of Lincoln is working with the Lied Center's Assistant Director of Community Engagement and Learning, Laura Kendall & Korey Ireland http://www.liedcenter.org/events/detail.php?eid=406 our friend and instructor from Kansas City to create a special weekend event for Tango Club Members.

Tango Buenos Aires

The Lied Center and Lincoln's Tango Club will host a post-performance Reception and Dance immediately following the show in the Lied Center's Johnny Carson Theater.

Dance to traditional Argentine tango music with guest DJ Korey Ireland.

Special "offerings" throughout the afternoon and evening Friday September 21
 
  • A "Masters Class" will be taught by members of the cast in the Johnny Carson Theatre from 3:30 to 5:00 in the afternoon.  This may be a "once in a lifetime" opportunity - And it's FREE!!!   To register for the class please call or email Laura Kendall at (402) 472-3215 or by email at lkendall2@unl.edu .
  • A Pre-Performance party starting at 5:30 will be hosted by the Lincoln Tango Club at Sur Tango until it is time to walk over to the Lied Center.  Sandy Benson sent out an email regarding snacks at the party.  I've attached it for those of you who might want to review her comments.
  • A "History of Tango" lecture will be present by Professor Guillermo Orti at the Lied Center's Conference Room.  I attended Guillermo's lecture the last time Tango Buenos Aires performed here and if you didn't have an opportunity to hear it then, you should make sure to hear it now.  The lecture precedes the Performance and lasts about a half an hour.
  • The Tango Buenos Aires performance begins at 7:30.
  • A Post Performance Reception and Dance in the Johnny Carson Theatre, will begin immediately following the performance.  Korey Ireland from Kansas City will DJ a traditional Argentine Milonga.  Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.  Food and drinks will be available for a nominal charge.  For tickets please contact Viviana Larsen, vivilarsen@yahoo.com 402-797-2195 or 402-890-0881.
 Argentine Tango Workshops & Milonga Social Dance
Saturday - September 22nd  The Lincoln Tango Club's first day long Tango Workshop will be held at the  Howard Johnson Inn, 5250 Cornhusker Hwy in Lincoln. 
  • Private lessons will be available from Korey Ireland and Mila Vigdorova throughout the day.  Please contact Korey directly for your private lesson registrations korey@ko-arts.com  To register for the two 90 minute afternoon workshops and the evening milonga, $35.00 per person, please contact Viviana Larsen, vivilarsen@yahoo.com 402-797-2195 or 402-890-0881.  If you cannot participate in the workshops there will be tickets available at the door for the milonga for $5.
 
For those wishing to stay over either Friday or Saturday nights, please contact Howard Johnson Inn directly 402-464-3171.  Tango music will be playing before, in between and after the workshops so you will have an opportunity to practice what you learned.  A cash bar will be available during the milonga.
